Marie Norris

Country

Marie Norris was Born on August 14th, 1981 in the small town of Thomasville, GA. Although she grew up around Pavo and Coolidge, her true home town is Cairo as she settled there when she was 11.

Marie got bit by the music bug at a very early age, as her grandmother said, from the very beginning that she could sing before she could talk.  This was proven by her getting up in church and singing "Jesus Loves Me" at the early age of a 2 or 3 years old.  Marie has always wanted to be a singer and even accompanied herself on a plastic toy guitar with finishing line for strings.  Not too bad for a toddler!  She love to tell that story to friends and family to show that it is all she's ever wanted to do is entertain and make people happy.  Marie continued to sing for the Lord for most of her childhood and later transitioned to country and other genres (as she don’t like labels or being trapped in a box). Marie has gone through many of life's struggles, strains, difficulties and physical ailments along the way.  Marie's story and testimony makes her who she is and she does her best incorporate love, not hate, into her music; given all the experiences in life that she's faced.

Marie is a 4th Generation Trucker and Military Brat who grew up patriotic while rolling wheels and shifting gears along side of her Uncles and Dad!  There was never a doubt in her mind that she'd wind up behind the wheel of a truck...even after finishing high school and going to college (for something she’d never really use) to feed her hunger for knowledge that continues to this day.  Eventually, Marie completely gave up on music to make her living and turned to the trucking life to pay her bills.

But eight years ago Marie started her first full music project.

Perfume & Diesel

Surprisingly, she found the balance of music and trucking allowed her to be independent and never need anyone to depend on.  She started writing and co-writing for this project and wrote what she knew from life, with a a bit of humor as well, because that’s who Marie is. "Perfume & Diesel" became her first project, wound up containing 11 songs and was officially released in 2022 in its entirety. Nashville A-listers created the tracks for it, and have for every project since. It took just over 4 years to get the first single released given that she had to learn to do it for herself as an independent artist.

"Perfume & Diesel" saw success as an album, but the rockabilly cut of the title track wound up being the bell cow,  going over 60,000 streams on Spotify alone.  It also peaked at Number 26 on the CashBox Independent Country Chart.

Another milestone of the album was her tribute song to Barbara Mandrell (Hard Act To Follow) which is Marie's biggest influence in her music and life.  The song was in the top 10 of many charts on the Indie scene, and won Marie her first award as a Singer/Songwriter for Best Traditional Country Song at the Winter Quarter 2025 at the World Songwriter Awards.  She couldn’t have asked for a better song to give her her first honor as an award recipient!

The Road Takes It's Toll

Marie's follow up, "The Road Takes It’s Toll" was released independently and did not see the success that was hoped for.  A multitude of factors including lack of promotion and distribution led to Marie pulling the release with hopes to incorporate pieces of it into later work.

What's Been Happening Since

Marie is currently working on her third album that’s starting to look, sound and feel like the best one yet! She is truly more excited than she has been in a long time. The first release, "End of the Road" (October 2024) performed well and Peaked at #32 on the Cashbox Charts. The project's follow-up release, "Truckin’ Therapy" (May 2025), boasts a quick witted, upbeat, humorous and fun tune to follow such an important release.

The project's third release is "Same Old Guilt" (July 2025), which is
a song that focuses on what Marie's life is like out and about while she drives down the road. It also hits on relationships that get strained because she is not around as often as she'd like to be and the guilt that comes with it.

Two more singles have been released since: "God, Barbara & Elvis" (October 2025) and "One More Minute" (January 2026) .  Marie considers "God, Barbara & Elvis" as her life’s theme song, so to speak.  It also gives the listener a peek into the woman Marie is and the folks who shaped her! It was God, Barbara And Elvis and in that order that made her who she is.  "One More Minute" takes a more intimate look at Marie and tells the tale of a love story that ended too soon.

Stay tuned for even more to come from the new project that should be completed in 2026!
